Tallahassee

When I think of Tallahassee the picture above is what comes to mind. I love the city, it's beautiful, it has great restaurants, and one of my best friend lives there, BRANDI!

Tonight I make the 3 hour drive to help her with the BABY ROOM! Her little bean will be coming soon and we must have a FABULOUS room waiting on her when she arrives. Brandi and I always have a great time together and I can't wait to take some pictures of that belly of hers! :)

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend. I sure did. Jaclyn and Jason are like family, my dream is to have them be my next door neighbors one day. Love you guys! Here's a tiny recap of my weekend.

I couldn't’t have done this without John, he was a good teacher! He taught me how to mix my thinset and grout. I’m sure his ears hurt because I was asking him questions the whole time I was laying the rock down.

I used the river rock on the mesh, BUT now that I look back I would have rather used just river rock. I ended up pulling most of them off and laying them free handed. If you guys want to try this at home, email me and I will send you the instructions. It’s easy, but make sure you have 2 days at home to dedicate to this project. It ended up being a VERY tiresome job!

This picture was from this morning, the grout is drying. It's STILL not finished. I must go in and clean the edges up and polish the rocks. You can see some spots are darker than others, the finished product will be the light colored grout. When it's all complete and polished up, I will post the final picture. It looks so much better in person.

Friday

The tile looks even better than expected. This picture is last nights work. John said by the time I get home from work the whole living room will be complete. YEAH!! John will be at our house working day and night all weekend, I know poor thing. I hate it, I wish he could go home to his family but the job must get done.

Tile this morning

While he has been there the past 2 nights I have had grout on my mind, so I started mosaicing more light switch plates. I grouted them this morning and they look great. Also, John will be teaching me how to lay tile, so this weekend I’m using tumbled river rock and resurfacing our shower floor…don’t worry I will take pictures, I’m so excited about this and after learning this I can move on to bigger and better things like my back splash for my kitchen.

I must head out NOW to go to the dentist then I will be off to Lowes to buy some supplies for my weekend project. HAPPY FRIDAY!

The carpet removal as begun! I can’t tell you how excited I am for the week to go by. J and I will be sleeping in our dining/formal room for the next week. Mom, Joe, and Memaw get the upstairs (There moving truck from AR arrives next Thursday). I have cleared everything out of all of my rooms and stuck them in our dining room and in the kitchen nook. Here are some of the BEFORES, can’t wait until I have the after shots!

I have so many things going on right now I haven’t had time to take any pictures and blog. Where do I start? The tile man is finishing up mom’s house and starts on ours tonight. I must move all my little décor after work so the boys can move the big stuff. Mom is in the process of moving out into her new home :) YIPPEE!! Her movers arrive on Thursday, the 21st. Next weekend we leave for Oklahoma, the next week I’m headed up to Tallahassee to help Brandi with her baby room, then the next week I’m in Biloxi, MS for a fishing tournament. I’m not sure how I’m going to finish all my projects. After the tile is laid were painting, and I could go on and on.

I’m taking photos of the tile process for everyone. I want to learn so I can install my own backsplash for the kitchen. I will try to get easy step through pictures for all you who want to install one for yourself. Until then, here are some pictures of my Sam Moon findings. I promised them almost a month ago when I was in Rockwall. For all of you that haven’t heard of Sam Moon, it’s a jewelry outlet that has everything you would EVER want inside with very CHEAP prices. It’s a girl’s paradise!

My Formal Living Room

Over the weekend I used over 10 cans of spray paint, I think I’m addicted to spray painting our furniture, I must stop! I think getting the tile and picking paints has sparked my decorating bug. I love design; it’s something I want to do when I grow up. Here are the pictures of what I did this weekend. I’m not quite finished, I will explain what I want to do below.

I bought this chair from the owner of the Howey Mansion...The tiny table with the tulips was bought this weekend from a garage sale, and YES I spray painted it black :) The pillows came from TJ MAXX.

Our coffee table I painted black (I want to stick some zebra fabric underneath the glass and those 3 glass vases your looking at, those are going in my Moroccan kitchen! I was just testing them out in the picture. I love JEWEL TONES!
