Moroccan Obsession

Ever since Brandi and I went to the Wine & Food festival in Epcot I have been intrigued by Moroccan design. Here is my post link to when we went last October.

Now it’s become an obsession. I Google Moroccan design instead of weight watcher recipes, I love their colors. I’m doing my kitchen in Moroccan, and wish I could change my whole house but that’s not logical. So the kitchen will be the start. I have ran to long with the Tuscan theme and can’t stand to see another chef or wine bottle.

I have been studying paint colors for the past 2 weeks and I think I have came up with the perfect background color. I want something colorful but not bright so my accessories will pop. If anyone knows of a cheap place to find Moroccan lanterns, please let me know. I found this lantern at the farmers market 2 weeks ago; I stole it for $10! I have stuck Christmas lights inside of it so it lights up, I will take more pictures down the road.
($10 farmers market lantern)

Our tile man is still installing mom’s tile so when he’s complete with her house he comes to ours which should be Monday. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see that carpet ripped up! It’s going to look like a new house! Before and after pictures will come soon!

I love these colors

LOVE this light fixture!

These below are tajines, it’s a type of dish found in the North African cuisines of Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, which is named after the special pot in which it is cooked in. The traditional tajine pot is formed entirely of a heavy clay which is sometimes painted or glazed. It consists of two parts; a base unit which is flat and circular with low sides, and a large cone or dome-shaped cover that rests inside the base during cooking. The cover is so designed to promote the return of all condensation to the bottom. With the cover removed, the base can be taken to the table for serving.

I'm on the look out for a tajine. I'm sure they have them at World Market, I will check and post the places where they sell these.
What's your favorite design? I would love to know!

I bet Pier One will have lanterns, have you checked there?
My style is "cottage~y", I love old stuff, flea market finds and trash treasures. I don't like thinks to be matchy~ey match.

I love it! I recently saw a show on HGTV where they decorated a living room in Moroccan style and it was beautiful! They made this awesome siting area on the corner out of some wood and twin bed mattresses, covered it with beautiful colorful fabric and tons of pillows! You should do that if you have the space! It looked like the perfect place to sit and read all day! (and if its in the kitchen you could sit there and read cook books!) Can't wait to see pics!

Hi! I was at Marshall's/Homegoods this weekend and saw tons of Moroccan lanterns! Do you have one of those near you? I think they were with a lot of the outdoor stuff. Lots to choose from - good luck!
