Green Thumb & Blodgett Nursery

We've been busy in the yard these last couple of weeks. My thumb is finally turning green. It's took a good 3 years of hard work to learn how to keep a plant alive and I'm still learning. We've cut down all the pine tree's close to the pool, I finally found my cement bowl planters! (took me 3 months to find them) our garden is coming along quite nicely and we finished planting our peach trees. Now we just need some chickens and goats and we can call ourselves "the farm".

If you live in the Orlando area and are on the look out for a certain type of pot or plant, LOOK no further! GO TO Blodgett Nursery! THEY HAVE EVERYTHING! Their located off of Edgewater Drive in College Park. Here are the planters/pots I found.

I scattered the cement bowls around the pool...I LOVE how they turned out.

Michael (love him) at Blodgett Nursery taught me about Succulent plants! Have you heard about them?? It's a plant that doesn't have to be watered everyday, they LOVE the heat and they stay green year round! Who wouldn't want a SUCCULENT!

DEFINITION: SUCCULENT, also known as succulents or fat plants, are water-retaining plants adapted to arid climates or soil conditions. Succulent plants store water in their leaves, stems, and also in roots. Geophytes that survive unfavourable periods by dying back to underground storage organs such as tuberous roots, corms, bulbs, and rhizomes, may be regarded as succulents.

So... in all the planters out by the pool I planted succulents...I got all different types and made collages in each bowl. I even replaced my flowers with these succulents below (which I found them at LOWES for $6) NOT BAD! BC you'll never have to changed them again.

Hope everyone is enjoying the beginnings of spring :)

The Pool

They started filling the pool yesterday! Here is the pool finish I chose, it's called Bimini Bay. It has tiny turquoise and cobalt blue pebbles in it along with white sandy crystals. It should give the pool a turquoise color.

It took about 20 hours to fill it up! We have well water so it's a nasty yellow green color right now. I will wait until the water clears up and I will post more pictures. I'M SO EXCITED!

P.S. I got in it this morning and it's FREEZING! Polar BEAR COLD!

New Outdoor Cushions

My great new friends made me new outdoor cushions out of subrella material this week. His family owns a patio furniture store. I love them so much! Does anyone know what Sunbrella fabric is? If not read below. It's a material that you can BLEACH! It's great for the Florida sun. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!

SUNBRELLA: Competitors simply dye the surface of the yarns, which only penetrates the outer shell of the material, resulting in fading with time and washings. Sunbrella's superior UV-resistant color pigments are added during production, creating incredible, non-fading color that withstands intense sunlight, heat exposure, and numerous cleanings. You can count on worry-free, stain- and fade-resistant Sunbrella fabric to keep its good looks season after season, regardless of harsh weather.

pool still isn't done :( long story, but the decking is finished and it looks like a pool. Were waiting on electric and the pool pebble finish. Hopefully we can swim next week.

This week will be in the low 60's at night, which means we can use our fireplace for the first time :)
