Saturday night Jim’s friend Kevin brought over lobster tails. THEY WERE HUGE so I had to share some of the pictures I took of them. I really have never cooked a lobster tail this big. I googled, “HOW TO COOK A HUGE LOBSTER” hoping to find some tips and I can tell you it was a hard search. SO I’m giving you some tips on the best way to cook a large lobster tail.

If your lobster is frozen stick it in a bowl of cold water, this is the same with shrimp and scallops.

GOOGLE suggested me boil it…so I did. I think if I grilled this mammoth it would be overcooked and dry on the outside with a raw center. I can say it was some of the best lobster I have ever had! I seasoned the water with salt, old bay (not much), and garlic powder.

Make slits with kitchen sheers on the top part of the shell all the way down to the tail like this picture below, make sure you cut them when their RAW. This makes it easier to get the meat out and easy for the butter to drip down the sides.

Bring the water to a boil and then throw them in, it took about 12 minutes for them to cook.

I have always heard that large lobsters are not as good to eat, but I think that’s a lie because this was some of the best lobster I have ever had. THANK YOU KEV, THAT WAS SWEET OF YOU!
