The List

I was soaking in the bubble bath last night talking on the phone with my friend Allie, who was also soaking in the tub. I swear the sweet smell of the bubbles and hot water must have gotten our minds going because we talked about so many neat things that we want to do in the coming years, hopefully this year, but next year would be fine as well. She told me about this really neat dinner called, Outstanding in the Field, which I had never heard of it. It was so interesting I didn’t know I had turned into a prune by the time we were finished talking about it. Here is a brief description:

Outstanding in the Field’s mission is to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it.Senses are heightened in the fresh air. And it's not every day you get to sit next to the person who planted the beans, raised the lamb, and shaped the cheese on your plate.Jim Denevan, FounderOutstanding in the Field is a roving culinary adventure - literally a restaurant without walls. Since 1999 we have set the long table at farms or gardens, on mountain tops or in sea caves, on islands or at ranches. Occasionally the table is set indoors: a beautiful refurbished barn, a cool greenhouse or a stately museum. Wherever the location, the consistent theme of each dinner is to honor the people whose good work brings nourishment to the table.Ingredients for the meal are almost all local (sometimes sourced within inches of your seat at the table!) and generally prepared by a celebrated chef of the region. After a tour of the site, we all settle in: farmers, producers, culinary artisans, and diners sharing the long table.

This sounds so amazing and this is going on “THE LIST”, Thank you ALLIE!

Another thing that’s on “THE LIST” is having a beautiful candle light Thanksgiving with friends…the night would be filled with great food that would take all day to prepare and fancy cocktails. We would decorate the table like Martha Stewart and use creative place cards. It would be just like this:

This idea originated from Allie and Lesli, it sounds like a plan and I can picture it right now.

Thank you for the wonderful idea’s girls! I’m posting the FULL list on my right-hand column and hopefully we will be able to scratch some off soon!
